Judith and I took an early-morning walk today, picking wild flowers for a funeral.

Unfortunately, mortality seems the theme for the day.

Tim Hildebrandt, RIP.

The Brothers Hildebrandt were about as influential to my generation as they come. Tim Hildebrandt passed away Sunday, at the age of 67.

Jack "Jaxon" Jackson, RIP

Austin artist Jack "Jaxon" Jackson, generally credited as the first underground cartoonist, died last Thursday. He was 65. Jackson's first underground comic, "God Nose," appeared in 1964. He co-founded Rip Off Press, one of the first independent publishers of underground comics in San Francisco in 1969.

All of which got me thinking about stuff...

You scored as agnosticism. You are an agnostic. Though it is generally taken that agnostics neither believe nor disbelieve in God, it is possible to be a theist or atheist in addition to an agnostic. Agnostics don't believe it is possible to prove the existence of God (nor lack thereof).

Agnosticism is a philosophy that God's existence cannot be proven. Some say it is possible to be agnostic and follow a religion; however, one cannot be a devout believer if he or she does not truly believe.

Something cheerier is needed.

Fortunately, there are Classic Diet Recipe Cards from the 1970s.

Should put anyone in a good mood just knowing this stuff hasn't been served in, like, 30 years.

Of course, it's due for a comeback!

Anyone remember the Cameras, a British band that was pretty much destroyed as soon as a payola scandal by their label was discovered?

They had a great single before they were sunk, "Do You Have Fun," I think was the name.

Any idea where that might be available on MP3?

Speaking of long-lost music, what was the name of that BBC (I think) series, about a girl band? It ran around 1979-1980, I think. Spawned one single...something with a line something like of "You just want to do me, but I don't want to be done." Not bad, for ear candy.

Lastly, a novelty group from 1980 or so, the Heebee Geebees. Anybody remember them, or their hit, "Meaningless Songs in very High Voices"? Lost my cassette of them years ago. Not a hugely high priority, but if anybody has a copy...

For some reason, hearing the Vapor's "New At Ten" (also an MP3 search) on Muskrat Radio (my Pandora station got me to thinking about all this.

Of course, the HeeBeeGeeBees were the folks behind Radioactive and many other hit Radio 4 comedies (Angus Deyton and Philip Pope were the two main conspirators).

The album may well have turned up on a Usenet MP3 newsgroup a couple of weeks ago...

I'm pretty sure that Meaningless Songs first turned up on Radio Active, repeats of which sometimes turns up on BBC 7 (http://www.bbc.co.uk/bbc7/ to listen over the 'net). At the minute, mainly they appear in Saturday's Comedy Controller slot.

Cheers,
Graham

At least "Does it behoove you to..." is a sentence. My spam comes with titles like: "Shelby put ceres was turban" and "As disposal the terbium". You know, the syntax isn't too bad, but the semantics is non-existant. It's like someone has programmed a sentence generator with grammatical rules, but no way of ensuring agreement between the different verbs and nouns. So random words get put in the right places without actually making sensible sentences. Very strange...

I'm afraid the quiz is incorrect, John.

You are a gamer, therefore, you are a Satanist.

Me, on the other hand, I'm safe. I'm an omnitheist. I've got all my bases covered. ;)

Hmm, I'd scoff at this if aside from the 96% Athiest I hadn't managed a runner up of 79% santanist. I think's it's because of my 'do as you will attitude'.

I am very sorry to hear about Tim Hildebrandt. We have a calendar featuring their LoTR work in the kitchen. It's going to be be heart rending to look at it now, and know what has been lost.

On the other hand, there are some loses that are no where near as "regrettable"

It's interesting to note that Christianity and Buddism are seperated by a mere four percent.

I came up as agnostic in that religion quiz as well, but it's the #2 and #3 positions that I find most intriguing. Apparently Buddhism is 75% for me, with Satanism coming in at 71% for me.

That explains a lot, actually. An Agnostic with Buddhist-Satanist leanings? No wonder organized religion fails me! ;)

I think the tv series you are thinking of is Rock Follies. According to IMDB it was shown in 1976 and starred Charlotte Cornwell, Julie Covington & Rula Lenska.

I didn't watch it myself (only being 10 years old at the time!) and what we watched was either a)whatever sport my dad was into or b)what my mum wanted to watch!
