LOLdorks
You all know that my pal [info]billzilla is one of the best guys in the universe, right?

And his S.O. [info]replyhazy is another in the short list of My Favorite People, Like, Evar.

Well, their kitty, Buster, is now Number 2 with a bullet on lolcats favorites page.

This may well be the closest I actually ever get to, you know, real fame and stuff. So, for the love of all things holy, HELP MAKE BUSTER THE #1 KITTY on LOLCATS with your rating!

Karma will thank you for it. So may well [info]billzilla, who has a birthday coming up...and [info]replyhazy, who just had one (happy belated, Tracy! I suck. Dim Sum's on me.)

EDIT: BUSTER THE DEMON CAT IS NUMBER ONE! At least for a little while. Can someone get a high-res screenshot of the page, for Bill and Tracy? I can only do them at 72 dpi... Anyhoo, way to REPRESENT, Army of Dorkness!

****

Plus, like, a meme that's actually kind of interesting. Ganked from [info]abbagirl.

Copy this list. Leave in the bands you've seen perform live. Delete the ones you haven't and add new ones that you have seen until you reach 25. An asterisk means the previous person had it on their list. Two asterisks means the last two people who did this before you had that band on their list.

1. U2 *
2. Indigo Girls *
3. Madonna *
3. Shawn Colvin *
4. The Sensational Alex Harvey Band
5. The Boomtown Rats
6. The Jam
7. Orchestral Manoeuvers in the Dark
8. Elvis Costello
9. Husker Du
10. The Replacements
11. Bob Mould (solo)
12. Wilco
13. Crowded House
14. Midnight Oil
15. The Reivers
16. The Rolling Stones
17. Pink Floyd
18. Genesis
19. Fountains of Wayne
20. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers
21. The Eagles
22. Al Stewart
23. Chick Corea
24. Matthew Sweet
25. The dBs

These are just the first 25 that came to mind. Each has an interesting story. Some more so than others.

Went and voted - and that picture is just *awesome*.

Demon kitty for the win!

(Also the picture seems to be #1 right now...)

In a previous life, I was a music critic for the State Journal in Madison.

I saw U2 three times on their Zoo TV tour.

Ahhhhh, so you not only got to see them for free, but you then got to write articles about how much they all sucked afterwards. I seeeeeeeee. :-P

(well, that's what all the music critics around here do, anyway.)

Is it sad that of those 25, I've only seen *1, and if I add up all the bands I've seen, it doesn't even come to 10?

Seen more than I have - I've seen...none of those in concert.

Tori Amos and TSO are the only two concerts I've ever been to.

From your others:

I've also seen REM (and interviewed them, twice)
B.A.D. (opening for U2)
Richard Thompson ("This next song is "She Knives the Twit Again".)
The Decemberists, with Camper Van Beethoven opening

The crossovers are surprisingly few...

Like you, I just tossed down the first 25 that occurred to me. Perhaps we'd overlap more if we compared master lists.

Though I'm surprised you've never seen Liz.

I went to see Thompson Twins in '85 purely because OMD was opening for them. I mean, I liked TT okay, but I wouldn't have paid to see them if not for Paul and Andy. *G*

I saw OMD in 80, after Architecture and Morality, and it was great.

I still love those first three OMD albums...

No problem at ALL!

Been to Cocoliqout. I've found the food OK, if a bit underwhelming for what they're trying to be (I prefer Sardine, about the same price but much better and more consistent bistro fare, or even Coquette Cafe in Milwaukee). Though the chocolates and coctails at Cocoliquot are fabulous.

Thinking about the Big Birthday Bash?

For some reason my brain is in Steak Frites mode... but talk to Bill if you see him at Games Day.

I actaully was their doorman twice just around the time they recorded with Butch Vig.

I still don't know why they got so popular.
