Full of Win
Guess where I'm off to, tonight?

Yup. I'm so pleased that I got tickets at the last minute that I'm not even hiding this cartoon behind a Peek-Link.

Every now and then, an idea for a cartoon will come along that maybe one out of ten readers will get. I think/hope I made this one at least partially humorous to the more mainstream side of the readership. But it made me happy, so in the end, I'm just glad I did it, regardless.

However, since the week's been busy, I forgot to Peek-Link Monday and Wednesday's toons. So here they are:

Posting quickly...quickly...before the thinderstorm fries my computer...

Monday's Dork Tower:

to see it.

Posting quickly...quickly...before the thinderstorm fries my computer...

Tuesday's Dork Tower:

to see it.

This week has been so full of win, I just haven't had time to do any updating.

So, briefly:

Saw Kids in the Hall in Madison last Friday: frakkin' brilliant. Had front-row seats for a Rick Bayless demo at Chicago's Fancy Food Show Monday, and got his "Everyday Mexican" cookbook autographed: inspirational. Missed Alton Brown signing in LaCrosse on Tuesday (just toooo tired). And seeing Jonathan Coulton tonight.

Details to follow at some point where I can take a breather from work.

EDIT: if you're in Madison, and are interested in comin' to tonight's Jonathan Coulton show, tickets still seem to be available, as of 4:30 pm

I hope those who don't at least appreciate Igor's ramble at the end. I was soooo pleased with that. :-)

(We cartoonists amuse ourselves easily).

Wait — there's a Kobolds Ate My Baby movie?

I so want to see that!

If there isn't one, someone should make it.

They're the opening band, so they sing Opening Band to open and The Captain's Wife's Lament to close, and mix Nugget Man in there somewhere. I've never seen them do DN stuff, but that doesn't mean they won't.

They also provide backup vocals for large chunks of Coulton's show.

So, who else is featured on "Legends of Dork"?

"Weird Al" Yankovic? MC Hawking? They Might Be Giants?

Supposedly the song "Still Alive" from Portal is available for the game Rock Band. I don't know if it's part of an expansion pack or an individual download, though.
And I'm jealous. Jonathan Coulton isn't coming anywhere near me (central Iowa). *pout*

It's an individual download. (So it's only for the Xbox 360 or PS3 versions.

It's also free.

Holy cats! That IS a super week! I guess Madison really is THE place to be! I've been dying to see Jonathan Coulton in concert, you lucky muscrat!

Thankfully, I can assuage my jealousy by going to see Wil Wheaton do a reading here in San Diego this weekend ... at a beer garden. (And the weather may cooperate enough that I can go in shorts.)

Still, wouldn't it be great if ALL us dorks could go to ALL the cool shows ... together! *sigh* What a wonderful world it would be/

Argh. Don't be making me miss Madison that much more, John.

People up here ask me why I want to move back down to Madison. I tell them "for the culture." They usually answer, "Culture? What do you mean, culture?" And I respond, "Exactly, thank you for proving my point."

I saw the show at the Triple Door here in Seattle last weekend. Very fun! He brought in Molly for added awesomeness. I had a great view of the shocked look on Storm's face when she pelted him with a package of panties from back stage during the opening number. You're going to have a stupendous time! :)

1. Wil Wheaton has Twitter - http://twitter.com/wilw
2. There's this thing called "LoudTwitter" that makes twitter update to LJ . . . I've not figured it out, but I know somebody here on LJ that uses it (but her posts are friends locked.)
3. Comicon was on the Today Show today. "Captain America" flirted with the reporter.

In the last couple of weeks you have seen both 'Kids In The Hall' live AND the genius that is Jonathan Coulton!

Maybe I should up sticks from sleepy Worcestershire and move to Madison?
