The Munchkin Resurrection Cookie
From Today's Daily Illuminator, as posted by Steve Jackson Games guru Paul Chapman:

I love cookies. And I love Munchkin. Therefore, I double-love the Munchkin Resurrection Cookie.

No, we're not selling these. They're holiday gifts for special friends in the industry, baked in very limited numbers. We've sent them all out, so no matter what bribes you send us, we don't have any more.

However, if you're facing one of these Cookies in a Munchkin (or Munchkin Quest) game: Eating it either prevents any Bad Stuff that involves "death" or flips all your hearts to red. For complete rules, see the Cookie's page.

I'm not sure if I'm getting one of these - honestly, so much Munchkin stuff comes out these days that I'm not always even sure WHAT is coming down the pike: this is the first I've even heard of these cookies. But they look hella-cool, and I love the rule that goes along with them.

(Famously never having won a game of Munchkin, one of these would surely have been wasted on me, anyway. If one does indeed come my way, I'll probably bring it to Warpcon, for the Charity Auction...)

While the Resurrection theme surely would have been more appropriate for Easter, there's not much that is more Christmassy than cookies...

Merry Christmas, Munchkins!

EDIT - Phil tells me some cookies ave been sent to Muskrat Central. So I'm deinitely bringing one to the Warpcon Charity Auction, in January...

Merry Christmas, Louisa's daddy.

Well if it was an Easter Ressurection cookie it would take 3 days to come back and who has time for that?

I've never played Munchkin. I will have to correct that one of these days.

The fact that I collect patches is purely coincidental.

A series of Munchkin Patches wouldn't be a bad idea.

I'd wonder what a boy scout troop would have to do to earn one though

One wonders if someone will get the idea to make counterfeit cookies... Oh, wait, I just did. Get the idea, that is.

I really appreciate how each new random Munchkin trinket (say, the recent tree ornament) has an actual,in-game rules effect associated with it. After all, why would a munchkin have any item if it didn't give a benefit?

(I admire the dedication to theme there.)

I really feel sorry for the person who comes to a munchkin game with all the trinkets, bookmarks and mucnkin items to give him an advantage in the game.. hopfully to win

That would be all the (semi-)finalists at the German Championships, which promoted SJ to state that we haven't enough promo stuff, as we could still see the table.

Of course, us laymen can play this rule during our own games with oreo cookies (perhaps one cookie allowed per player per game?) or other cookies of the players choice!

Hmm. Would you use it right away, or would you save it? Can only use it once, you know, and then you don't have it anymore. Surely merely possessing it has significant value in itself, both for the cool factor and for the deterrence.

At some point, though, you have to start deciding whether the cookie's so old that eating it to save the character would kill the player, and whether it's worth it...

I *WONDERED* what the heck that was when I saw it posted elsewhere! The thing looks huge!

I think it would be a most awesome thing to bring to a Charity Auction! If you do in fact get one, and do in fact decide to bring it to a Charity Auction, do please let us all know!

3" is a big cookie. Do you have to eat the whole thing or just take a bite/nibble of it? Is there any additional benefit if you wash it down with Munchkin Water?

The rule says "eat" so I would rule that the entire cookie must be eaten. And no, there's no extra benefit if you drink Munchkin Water when eating the cookie.
